An image photographed during a severe blizzard, just 3 months after the "Gnarl Ridge Fire" swept through the North-Eastern flanks of Mt Hood in 2008. The blaze was ignited by lightning and burned through 100-year old forest growth for several weeks, providing a fresh start & natural rejuvenation for much of the old growth forest near Cloud Cap and Tilly Jane cabins. Image is in color, but nature insisted it's black & white.
