Curtains of Ice - Tamanawas Falls
- Tamanawas Falls, Hood River, Oregon -
A long spell of single digit temperatures helped create this incredible display of winter behind 100 feet high Tamanawas Falls. Several of these ice formations are 50+ feet high and weigh many thousands of pounds. Quite an exhilarating feeling reaching the falls after a long snow shoe hike in with fading light, and then a hike back in darkness. This is one of my most difficult images ever captured with no solid footing with the ground being glazed over ice and constant spraying water that froze everything it touched.
